James Gunn and John Cena took the stage at CCXP Mexico today for a panel to talk all things Peacemaker. They talked about Peacemaker Season, Superman, and the new DCU.
The second season of the hit HBO Max show Peacemaker starts streaming with Episode 1 on August 21st. It’s expected to pick up Peacemaker’s story a couple of years after the end of Season 1 according to James Gunn.
It also directly ties in to Superman. Gunn confirmed that in Episode 1, Peacemaker meets Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord. Peacemaker is applying to join their Justice Gang team because he wants to be recognised as a real superhero.
James Gunn and John Cena also took the chance to savour some Mexican delicacies. They both ate a bowl of cooked crickets in front of the cheering audience jeering them on. Cena also treated the audience to his signature Peacemaker dance moves, including some new ones from the dance sequence in Season 2.
James Gunn revealed that Season 2 will have an all-new dance sequence, with not only new characters but also set to a brand new song. Gunn said they chose to change the song from “Do You Really Wanna Taste It?” to a song that better fit the themes of Season 2.
Peacemaker Season 2 starts streaming on HBO Max on August 21. One episode will release each week for a total of eight episodes.
