The Australian Premiere for Moana 2 was held on Sunday 24th November in Sydney. Local stars of the film attended including Temuera Morrison, Rachel House, Awhimai Fraser and David Fane. Also in attendance was musical composer and performer Opetaia Foaʻi.

The film is out this Thursday in Australian and New Zealand cinemas. On the same day, a Maori language version will release in New Zealand cinemas.

Three of the actors in attendance also play the same characters in the Reo Maori version of the film. Temuera Morrison, Rachel House, and Awhimai Fraser all voice the same characters in the English and Maori versions.

We had the chance to interview the stars on the carpet. We chatted with Temuera Morrison who returns as “Chief Tui” from the first film about his experience voicing the film in Maori language. We also spoke to Rachel House who returns as the spirit of “Gramma Tala” about whether she’d ever direct an animated film following her dircetorial debut this year.

Finally, we spoke to Awhimai Fraser and David Fane who play new character “Matangi” and “Kele” about their experience joining the Disney film.

A sincerely huge thank you to Disney AUNZ for hosting us and giving us access to interview the stars.

Moana 2 is out in Australian and New Zealand cinemas this Thursday November 28th.
