The new Looney Tunes movie ‘The Day the Earth Blew Up’ had an Australian Premiere event this weekend. Held at Movie World theme park, it was hosted by Australian distributor Pinnacle Film in collaboration with the AACTA Film Festival.
The event included a virtual Q&A with Eric Bauza, who voices Daffy Duck and Porky Pig in the film. The Macfarlane Brothers hosted the Q&A. Lachlan and Austin Macfarlane are Australian content creators known for their VFX skills as featured in their videos

The premiere was co-hosted by Pinnacle Films, who is distributing the film locally in Australia.
Pinnacle Films was established in 2008 as a division of All Interactive Distribution (AID), a major distributor of DVDs and Blu-Rays in Australia. Pinnacle Films has since had a strong track record of acquiring international movies and bringing them to audiences across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
The independant distribution model comes after WB produced the film, but decided not to release it. After considering cancelling it altogether, they opted to sell the rights to various distributors across the world instead of burying the film like they did Coyote vs ACME.
In the United States, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights to distribute the film. Meanwhile, the film has already release in several European markets since mid-2024. It first premiered in Germany and Switzerland on August 1 2024. It has since released in Israel, Greece, Taiwan, Italy, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic from October to November. An early 2025 release is set for the UK, Japan, and other major markets.
The Day the Earth Blew Up is the first-ever 2D animated Looney Tunes film to release in cinemas. The only other Looney Tunes movies to get theatrical distribution were the Space Jam movies and 2003’s ‘Looney Tunes: Back in Action’.
Looney Tunes: The Day the Earth Blew Up releases in Australian cinemas on March 27th.
