Episode 3 of Creature Commandos, ‘Cheers to the Tin Man’ contains references to hidden DC characters and future DCU plotlines. Especially notable are the DC Villain chaarcters that appear in the background of the prison scene where G.I. Robot is sent to the prison.
Sgt. Frank Rock makes his first appearance in the DCU.
He is voiced by Maury Sterling. While Daniel Craig is rumoured to play him in the unconfirmed live-action Sgt. Rock movie in the DCU.
The rest of Sgt. Rock’s crew consists of the boys of “Easy Company’.
In the comics, Easy Company was the battalion that Sgt. Rock led to fight all over Europe in WWII. They include Bulldozer, Sharshon, Canary, Four Eyes, Bogman and Little Sure Shot.
Flula Borg voices the German Oberst in the flashback.
Famous engineer Dr William Magnus appears.
He mentions that studying G.I. Robot will help him “create the next wave of automatons”.
His blackboard notes hint that he will eventually create the Metal Men.
When G.I. Robot goes to prison, multiple DC characters can be spotted in the background.
They are all monster villains, hence why they are in the non-human interment division of Belle Reve.
Doom Patrol villain Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man appears.
After falling into a vat of amino acids, he gained the power to transform any part of his body into a form of animal, vegetable or mineral. He first appeared in The Doom Patrol Issue #89 (Aug 1964).
Aquaman villain Fisherman appears.
He uses a pressurized suit and high-tech equipment resembling fishing reels and steals rare artefacts. He has a personal vendetta against the Aquaman Family and first appeared in Aquaman #21 (1965).
Justice League villain Shaggy Man appears.
He is a monster created by Professor Ivo, with super strength and the ability to adapt to any assault against him. He first appeared in JLA Issue #45 (June 1966).
Wonder Woman villain Crimson Centipede appears.
He was created by Ares to defeat Wonder Woman. In later canon, he was origin was revised to S.T.A.R. Labs creating him via transpecies modification for military application. He first appeared in Wonder Woman #169 (April 1967).
Michael Rooker voices Sam Fitzgibbons, who adopts G.I. Robot.
He is a longtime collaborator of James Gunn’s, known for playing Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy,
Sam and G.I. Robot watch the movie ‘The Dirty Dozen’ together.
The film follows twelve condemned soldiers forced into service as a crack commando team to undertake a suicide mission in Nazi-occupied France.
