Batman has appeared on top of the Sydney Opera House to celebrate Batman Day 2026.
The viral stunt by Warner Bros. and HBO Max drew the attention of thousands of DC fans and Sydneysiders who showed up to see the Caped Crusader watch over Sydney.
The event was part of a wider celebration for Batman Day, which is held on a Saturday in September each year. This year, Batman Day is being held on September 19th, with 2026 marking 87 years since the character first appeared in the pages of Detective Comics.

Globally, other fans events will be held with shops, publishers, and partners across North America, Latin America, Europe, Japan, and Australia. are staging events on the 19th,
Among the highlights, the one-shot comic book “Batman of Two Worlds” will be launching in comic book stores on Batman Day. It’s a new Batman story by Matt Fraction and Javi Fernández next to a new Absolute Batman story by Scott Snyder and Nick Derington, both about theft and how each Batman’s justice works.In-person events
Other highlights include:
- Comic shops worldwide: signings, cosplay, giveaways, charity drives, and retailer extras
- Four free paper masks at participating shops: Batman, Absolute Batman, Hush Batman, and Dark Knight Returns Batman
- New hardcovers in shops, including Batman Vol. 1: Daylight, Batman ’89 (with a movie code), H2SH Volume One, deluxe Dark Knight Returns, and Gargoyle of Gotham
- Highlighted shop events: Heroes & Fantasies in San Antonio, Dragon’s Lair in Austin (Batman Returns stunt double plus a Tim Burton Batmobile replica), Neighborhood Comics in Savannah, a free nighttime costume party from OVNI in Buenos Aires, Panini events in Italy and Brazil
